To earn your Open Water Certification, you need to attend all three parts of the Open Water course, which consists of:-

PADI EFR (EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE)

PADI EFR or an equivalent qualification is a pre-requisite for a Rescue Diver Course.

You don't need to be a Doctor to help a person, but you can help if you know how!

All you need is some time at home to review the theory and an evening in our classroom! This course is conducted on Monday evenings and gives you basic training in emergency care and confidence to care for others.

Primary Care (CPR)

RESCUE DIVER

The Rescue Diver course is a great way to expand your knowledge and experience and looks great on your resumé. This takes you to the next level and teaches you, hands on, during life-like simulations how to anticipate, prevent and manage potential dive accidents. These are the skills that can make all the difference in the unlikely event of an underwater emergency.

This course will increase your awareness of diver safety and teach you to prevent potential problems as well as dealing with these problems if and when they happen. Rescue Diver will teach you effective rescue techniques as well as First Aid skills that are specific to diving. The course is also a great way to prepare yoursel for the next level of dive training in a leadership role.

To earn your Rescue Diver qualification you must complete the following during this course:

  • Knowledge Reviews
  • Successful completion of the Rescue Diver Exam
  • Successfully demonstrate the 10 Open Water Rescue Exercises
  • Successfully demonstrate mastery of all 4 Rescue Scenarios
  • Prepare an Emergency Assistance Plan for the location in which the scenarios take place
  • You must be a Qualified Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualification of the same level) from a respected training organisation.
  • You must be at least 12 years old.
  • You must have a valid CPR - Primary Care and Basic First Aid - Secondary Care qualification (such as PADI EFR - see above).

DIVE MASTER

As a Divemaster you'll be able to:

  • Act as a certified instructional assisitant to instructors
  • Supervise participants in experience programs for uncertified divers

INSTRUCTOR

The OWSI program is a minimum of four days. It introduces you to the entire system of diver education and concentrates on further developing your abilities as a professional dive educator.

You will demonstrate competence at:

  • Performing all 20 dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation.
  • Performing a facedown, nonstop swim for 800 metres/yards using a mask, snorkel and fins.

During the course you'll need to demonstrate competency in Dive theory by passing a five-part theory exam scoring 75% on each part.

What You Can Teach:
After becoming an Open Water Scuba Instructor, you will be able to conduct the entire range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba Diving up to Dive Master. You may also choose to acquire specialty instructor ratings in areas of interest, such as Digital Underwater Photographer or Enriched Air Diver.

Course Requirements:
To qualify for training as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, you must:

  • Be certified as a PADI Dive Master or a PADI Assistant Instructor or be an instructor in good standing with another training organization for at least six months
  • Be certified as an Emergency First Response Instructor 
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be certified as a diver for at least six months
  • Have 60 logged dives that include experience in night, deep and navigation diving to participate in the Instructor Development Course. You'll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exams
  • Have proof of CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months. The Emergency First Response course meets this requirement
  • Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months

As an Assistant Instructor, you not only gain additional experience as a Professional scuba diver, but you also gain the experience you need to become an Open Water SCUBA Instructor. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities.

You build upon your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills. You learn through:

  • Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations
  • Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
  • Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
What You Can Teach:
In addition to the responsibilities and duties you already have as a Dive Master, as an Assistant Instructor you can:
  • Teach academic presentations under the indirect supervision of an Instructor
  • During confined water dives, present initial skills training under the direct supervision of an Instructor
  • Evaluate Open Water Diver surface skills under the indirect supervision of an Instructor
  • Teach and certify Peak Performance Bouyancy Speciality Divers under the direction of an Instructor
  • Teach Project AWARE Specialty courses
  • Teach the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation specialty course
  • Conduct Discover SCUBA Diving experiences in a pool or confined water
  • Conduct Seal Team AquaMissions

TDI TECH COURSES

The Course:
TDI Nitrox Diver course is an entry level course for divers wishing to utilize enriched air nitrox as a breathing gas. Little else has impacted recreational diving more than the introduction of nitrox, allowing more time underwater. During this course, you will learn the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving with EAN 22 to EAN 40 your TDI Instructor will also cover:

  • Cylinder Labeling
  • Analyzing of Nitrox

The course follows an easy to read and understand diver manual titled Understanding Nitrox and water proof tables for quick on site reference.

Nitrox TDI Nitrox Diver Package

The Course:
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use enriched air nitrox from EAN 21 through EAN 100 to a depth of 40 metres/130 feet during dives hat do not require staged decompression. Often taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures course, this can be considered the foundation of your technical diving career. Advanced Nitrox is also a great course for those wanting to extend their bottom times in shallower depths such as scientific diver, and a must for SCR or CCR divers. The course cover topics like:

  • Gas production equipment and oxygen analyzing
You will demonstrate proficiency in blending enriched air nitrox and the proper labeling of nitrox cylinders.

Nitrox Gas Blender TDI Nitrox Gas Blender Package

The Course:
As sport divers planned decompression is not something that we do or have been taught. The TDI Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With a maximum operating depth of 45m/150 feet, this course is your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. Your TDI Instructor will provide you with valuable information and skills, among the topics covered are:

  • Equipment requirements
  • Decompression techniques
  • Decompression breathing gases
  • Gas management
  • Contingency planning
The TDI Decompressions Procedures course combined with the TDI Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical courses. The Course:
One of SDI's most popular courses, the solo diver program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills. The course stresses on proper dive planning, personal limitations, accident prevention as well as the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo.  You will also learn the additional equipment that is required for solo diving including it's proper usage and assembly. This is the prefect course for underwater photography and underwater video divers.
