22 September 2008, Saturday 5.30PM – Our old faithful “Fei-Lou” encountered some problems with her water pump, and began her descent. Thanks to the quick and nimble response of Planet Scuba’s experienced Divemasters and Instructors as well as Atlantis Bay Resorts boat staff, there were no casualties or loss of equipment. The rapid evacuation of all remaining crew, tanks, weights, dive equipment and personal belongings was achieved in under 3 minutes!
The Management of Planet Scuba and Atlantis Bay Resort would like to thank all of its team members for their dedication, ensuring a loss-free end to this event.
On the brightside, “Fei-Lou’s” coup de grace saw an influx of divers at Atlantis Bay House Reef the following day as many bade farewell to a once magnificent and majestic fishing boat who served her time with such loyalty and affection to all open water students taking their first leap into the water. The wreck now stands tall at 15m deep in the house reef..This means.. this dive site is suitable for OPEN WATER divers who get to experience their very first wreck dive.
As we contemplate the bereavement of our beloved boat, we would like to invite all divers and newcomers to visit her this season. Look out for “Fei-Lou” who still carries the Malaysian flag proud and mighty as she rest peacefully in her final grounds.
